Discover the Together for Families: Family Resource Center Project

Curious about what a Family Resource Center (FRC) is? These welcoming community hubs are designed to support families, offering a place to connect, get assistance, and grow together.

FRCs focus on strengthening families by providing resources and support in various ways, including parenting classes, playgroups, resource navigation, referrals, year-round play areas, support groups, developmental screenings, and parent leadership development.

By bringing family-serving organizations together under one roof, FRCs foster collaboration and create dynamic solutions that improve community outcomes.

Family Resource Centers are vital for supporting and strengthening families during transitions, crises, or parenting challenges. Research shows that FRCs deliver a $4.93 social return on investment for every dollar spent, improving economic self-sufficiency, health, social support, family functioning, child nurturing, and academic success.

Wisconsin has about 30 FRCs, but the Fox Valley lacks this essential resource. During discussions in 2020 and 2021, community members and service providers recognized the need for an FRC in our area, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on families.

First Five Fox Valley (F5FV), an early childhood collaborative organization, is partnering with community entities to launch the Together for Families FRC. F5FV is leveraging its extensive network and expertise to ensure all children in the Fox Valley are safe, healthy, and able to reach their full potential.
